After a year of recording and mixing, I'm just about ready to release the album of my 8 original compositions. The music was recorded live off the floor at Canterbury Studios, by Grammy nominated engineer, Jeremy Darby. The rhythm section is comprised of Jeremy Ledbetter; piano, Max Senitt; drums, and Kobi Hass; electric and stand up bass. Special guests include: Curtis Freeman on fretless electric bass, Chris Gale on tenor saxophone, Alexis Baros on trumpet and Louis Simao on Cuica.
The music has a contemporary jazz feel, featuring strong melodic ideas and solos, interwoven with odd time signatures and unexpected but interesting twists and turns. I have melded together my love of traditional jazz and blues with some more contemporary type approaches and forms.
The cover design will feature photography by a fantastic Canadian photographer; Matt Molloy and graphic design by the very creative Kevin Ball.
