About Mike

Mike Freedman is a professional guitarist, composer and music instructor based in
Toronto. Into the Daybreak, his album of original instrumental jazz tunes, reached #1
on the CFUV jazz radio charts, receiving frequent radio airplay across Canada and the
US.
Since graduating cum laude from Berklee College of Music with a degree in Film
Scoring and Jazz Guitar, Mike has been actively involved in the music scene, where his
versatility lends itself to working on a wide variety of musical projects, performances and
recordings. His studies at Berklee included private lessons in a wide array of guitar
styles, focusing on the solos of many great players, which he continues to incorporate
into his playing today. Prior to Berklee, he spent several years studying under renowned
classical guitarist Eli Kassner.
Mike has recorded two singer/songwriter CDs of his own material, as well as two CDs of
instrumental guitar. He has also played on other musicians’ recordings and regularly
performs with original bands in the greater Toronto area, the US and Europe. As a song
writer, he has co-written and performed with other jazz singers whose work reached #1
on the iTunes jazz charts, including Tia Brazda, who he continues to co-write and tour
with.
In 2000, Mike received honourable mention in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest.
His songs and instrumental music have been included in films and on TV. To date, he
